![]() Community Arts: New Orleans Summer 2010 Problem: Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is still in need of spiritual and economic revival. The arts, a powerful tool for healing and community stimulation, are not being made available in many communities. Response: Reconstruct Art will send teaching artists to the area to organize and lead residents in free, culturally-relevant fine art workshops, including Painting with Music and Symbolic Imagery. The artists will also organize a team of local participants in creating a public mural to beautify a deprived neighborhood and reflect the local community. All Donations will be put forth towards materials needed for workshops. The goal is an estimated: $2,000 - Pencils -Paint -Brushes -Paper -Brown Paper -Gesso -Canvas Every little bit helps!
