" I want to make music that people will want to buy because it means something to them to own. Music that touches the soul "

- Charles Burchell

Charles "Charlie Brown" Burchell, age 19, has been playing drums for the past 6 years. He has spent all of his life in New Orleanssnare drum and eventually move to drum set.
and at an early age found an interest in the drums from listening to the music of his local church. It wouldn't be until years later that he would finally began to study

As a young drummer he has been instructed and mentored by legendary New Orleans' instructors: Alvin Batiste, Herman Lebeaux, Jason Marsalis, Herlin Riley, Herman Jackson, and Alvin Fielder.

Through the guidance of world renown saxophonist, Donald Harrison Jr., Charles became a part of the Tipitinas Internship Program. This program takes young high school kids and trains them to be professional musicians. Through this program and the wonderful instruction of Michael Pellera, Michael Rihner, Chris Sevrin, and the entire NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) staff, an institution in which he also attended, Charles has gone on to play and teach around the country and the world including places like: Miami, Utah, New York, Puerto Rico, France, and Panama.

Also while still in high school Burchell founded two bands: a jazz band known as the Black Notes (2004) and a hip hop/jazz/funk collaboration known as Floopy Head (2006). It is with Floopy Head the Charles got the nickname Charlie Brown and also his introduction into the world of Hip Hop. Charles has performance and/or played in jam sessions with Donald Harrison, Miguel Zenon, Danilo Perez, Alvin Batiste, Wes Anderson, Nick Payton, Common, Teodross Avery, Antonio Hart, Dave Holland, Victor Goines, Jerry Bergonzi.

Charles currently attends the New England Conservatory of Music under the instruction of Bob Moses, Billy Hart, Jerry Leake, and many more world class instructors.

It is at the conservatory where Charles met and began to play with Harvard-NEC students Kaz George and Malcolm Campbell and got the idea to form his new project The Love Experiment. Drawing from the influences of R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, World, Gospel and Electronic music The Love Experiment is Charles' first attempt into the world of songwriting and he hopes to continue in the linage of the great artist that inspire him such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Billie Holiday.

Charles gathers his inspiration from two things; people who play with their heart no matter what the musical context is and people who can tell a story with their music. He hopes through his music that he can show all the beauty and some of the pain that life has to offer.
